The first event of the year on the 2000 Western Canada Corsa calendar took place at Christies Pub on Sunday, February 6th. The Vancouver Island Regional meeting was a chance for many of the members to meet for the first time. Sixteen  people came out for the inaugural event with everyone bringing some of their collection of "Baby" pictures and stories of past Corvairs.  Unfortunately, only 3 Corvairs came out of hibernation for this first meet.

The afternoon was filled with members exchanging information on all things Corvair. Wayne Rostron brought out an interesting bit of Corvair Memorabilia, an application form and patch for the Chevrolet backed Monza club for Corvair owners that were given out by the dealerships of the day.  For many of the new members, the CORSA Tech Guide that was brought in by Joel Rushworth, persuaded  them to become new CORSA members so they could  have one of these informative resources for their own. We were pleasantly surprised to see Roberta Ward come out to the event, Roberta, bought her car new and still enjoys it today. She like her car is a classic!

Joel discussed the the Heritage Days Show in Lake Cowichan this year and of course the Corvairitus Treatment Day planned for September 10th. There was also some talk of holding more informal "Tech Sessions" at Members Garages during the time between events that seemed to generate a lot of interest.  If you would like to hold a "Tech Session" and invite some vair nuts over to ask questions and turn wrenches contact your regional director.
